On Friday, six cultural strategies for each of Malta’s regions were unveiled.

This means that for the next five years, each region, namely Gozo and the northern, eastern, western, southern, and ports regions, will have its own cultural strategy.

While each strategy shares three overarching themes – talent development, audience involvement, and historical heritage innovation – each will have its own set of priorities.

The strategies, which are developed by the regions themselves, are managed by the Maltese Council for the Arts in collaboration with the local government division and the Local Councils Association.

“The strategies were developed with the Local Councils, cultural NGOs, Public Cultural Organisations, cultural practitioners, as well as local residents so as to maximise the potential not only of the regions but also of the cultural and creative sectors,” Minister Owen Bonnici said.

“The six cultural strategies will be of guidance for the design and plan of each cultural region program, which will ensure that the unique traditions, talents, characteristics and historical elements of each Maltese and Gozitan locality are well celebrated” Parliamentary Secretary Zerafa Civelli stated.

More information on the six Regional Cultural Strategies may be found on Arts Council Malta’s website.
