Indie fans of the 00s heydays rejoice; your time has come to belt out some of your favourite anthems. NnG Promotion‘s Rock ‘N Malta have been confirming huge summer headliners since last year, bringing Bob Marley’s old band The Wailers performing at Aria, Lacuna Coil and even The Hives to the island. Now, it’s time for another legendary band to hit our shores in the coming months.

Kaiser Chiefs are coming to Malta!

“New destinations are always exciting, so we’re adding a new pin to our gig map this summer,” the band announced earlier today. “We’ll be heading to Malta in August!”

And as you’d expect, people are already losing their shit.

Initially formed back in 2000, Leeds-based Kaiser Chiefs have had multiple hits over the last decade and a half.

Inspired by new-wave and punk rock music of the late 1970s and 1980s, the band managed to bring a modern twist to the classic genres. They’re released six original studio albums, but it is their 2005 debut Employment that really stands out.

Indeed, Employment went on to win everything from the NME Award for Best Album, to The Best British Group award at the 2006 Brit Awards. The album was even shortlisted for a Mercury Prize in 2007.

Kaiser Chiefs have released a string of number one hits, most notably Ruby and I Predict A Riot (which endlessly dominated MTV for months)However, there’s a very big chance that you’ve also heard bangers like Everyday I Love You Less and Less, Never Miss A Beat and Oh My God at least a dozen times before.

Kaiser Chiefs will be performing at Aria Complex on the 30th of August. Opening for them will be local punk trio Bila, who have themselves been trailblazing the local alternative scene in the last months.
