Last Sunday’s protest in Attard showed the extent of the reaction people had to the approval of the Central Link Project.

While the discussion about preserving the environment in the midst of economic rampage is a serious one, a group of people decided to add a dash of fun into the mix, recruiting one of the biggest memes of the year to prove their point.

A Facebook event titled “storm the parliament building, they cant cut all the trees” has now appeared online

I mean, who wouldn't be interested?

I mean, who wouldn't be interested?

The event is being hosted by three young islanders who’ve said that they would be “surprised if more than 10 people show up.”

However, the event has received a surprisingly good online response, with 322 people having pressed ‘going’ and 597 ‘interested’ at the time of writing. And with nearly two months to go for the September 23rd event, it could very well continue going viral enough that a sizeable crowd actually shows up.

Whether this is purely a joke or whether anyone will actually show up remains to be seen, but we can formally declare that the ‘Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All Of Us’ meme-wave has officially reached Malta.
