Patrijotti: Here Are The Most Popular Maltese Names For Babies In 2022
The supposed covid baby boom has come and gone, and here are the most patriotic and popular names of babies in Malta for 2022.
For Maltese names, Ġanni and Luċija were the most popular Maltese names according to new figures published by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
In total, 13 girls and 22 boys were given Maltese names with the use of Maltese diacritics, which was made possible after legal amendments in 2021 allowed the use of Maltese fonts.

Meanwhile, out of the 3,978, the four most popular names for boys were Luca, Liam, Noah and Matteo, while Mia, Emma, Nina and Giulia dominated as the most popular names for girls.
The past year has seen a slight slump in births, with the Malta Public Registry recording a 4.7% decrease in 2022 compared to the year before.
