Malta has seen its fair share of celebrities make the most of the beautiful weather and the Instagram backdrops, even with the relatively greyer days the islands have been going through recently. And this time, it was the turn of a tennis legend from the 80s and 90s to make it to the islands.

Over the last weekend, German former world number 1 professional tennis player and Olympic gold medalist Boris Becker was spotted lapping up the last of the September sun, posing in front of the Grand Harbour in Valletta alongside his host, Kevin Decesare.

On Saturday afternoon, Becker visited the Asciak Tennis Academy, where he met some of the most promising tennis talent on the island… along with some of the younger trainees who were lucky enough to be at the Marsa Sports Club on the day.

“What a great privilege to meet tennis legend Boris Becker,” the academy proudly stated on Facebook.

Boris Becker has an impressive record under his belt, having won the first of his six major singles titles when he was only 17 years old. The three-time Wimbledon champion also won five year-end championships, 13 Masters Series titles and took home the gold at the 1992 Olympic Tennis Doubles event alongside Michael Stitch.

Since his playing career ended in 1999, Becker has been involved in numerous ventures, including coaching Novak Djokovic for three years and working in the field of poker.
