Thoughts All Maltese People Have When They Finally Stop Being Sick

Even considering you get a day off school/work, getting sick sucks.

You feel bad, you can’t do anything, and sometimes, you can’t even eat, which is a fate worse than death for some people.

However, when you finally overcome the illness, it can feel like a new lease on life, and you will begin to see the world in a whole new way.

Here are some of the thoughts you’ll have when you recover.

1. “Iva madonna I can breathe again”

Yaaaaaas

2. Ċaw mediċina, ċaw”

You shove all your meds into a giant bag and throw them into your medicine cabinet to not be seen again till next year.

3. “Daqsekk, staġun ġdid!”

You promise yourself you’ll strive to be a healthier person for the rest of the year. Actually keeping that promise is optional.

4. “Madonna reġa ġie!”

You cough once over lunch a couple of days later, and panic strikes.

If it is the flu again, you feel like personally going inside your body to give your immune system a telling off.

5. “Is-sena d-dieħla ġejja vaccination”

Every year you miss it, every year you get sick. Take the hint, buddy.

6. “Dan bis-serjeta ħa joqgħod jagħtas?”

The person on the opposite side of the room sneezes, and you suddenly wish they’d move to Gozo.

Stay away from me foul demon-spawn!

7. “Tgħid nerġa naħsel idejja, just in case?”

Is the fridge door covered with death? You can never know, and considering it’s a shared appliance at the office, might as well give those hands another wash.

8. “Dik Pectol? Ġesu…”

It was your ally, friend, and first and last line of defence.

Now, whenever you see one, you’re reminded of your darkest days.

Tag someone who’s still sick to let them know they’re not alone
