Thunder And Rainfall Back On Maltese Forecasts For Rest Of The Week

Article Featured Image

Lightning and thunder at this time of the year are very welcomed sights and sounds on the Maltese Islands. After very hot and dry spells over summer, these wet moments provide local farmers (and people who can’t wait for winter) with a refreshing difference. And this week looks like it won’t disappoint.

“Thundery and gusty showers are expected to affect the Maltese Islands in places at times,” the Malta Airport’s forecast page reads this morning. In fact, as it currently stands, the first three days of the week are all showing signs of possible thundery showers. Thursday, while not holding the possibility of thunder, still has some potential isolated showers on the menu.

If there’s one thing the Maltese Islands aren’t getting yet, though, it’s cooler temperatures. While the highest today and tomorrow will be sitting on 29°C, the apparent temperature will be going up to 32°C. And as the weekend approaches, that will only feel all the way up to 34°C.

The last full weekend of August is a mixed bag that might very well represent what we’re going to be treated to come September; moments of sunny and still hot (33°C) days will be interrupted by cloud cover and winds that may go all the way up to Force 5.

The UV index all week will be resting on a relatively milder 8, which means you can still get some last-minute tan on while not feeling like your skin’s about to peel off any moment from the sheer force of the sun. Having said that, with high temperatures like those and this still being August, we’d still strongly recommend keeping that faithful sunblock handy.
