News of Neil Agius’ upcoming record breaking swim attempt has travelled even further than will the man, the myth, the part-dolphin at the end of June – inspiring the creation of beautiful artwork as far away as Vietnam.

“What do you think of 72 hours in the water to complete a journey of 160km?” asked Rin Art in a post to social media.

“What is the sound that echoes in your ears in the sea – that you hear during the swim?”

“He is hollow, and soft as water to move in that vast ocean….”

Rin Art is a Vietnamese visual artist who has created an incredible tribute to Agius – showing his support in the swimmer’s upcoming challenge.

Agius shares a great love for the sea with Rin – and protecting it is the main reason he has taken this Herculean task upon his shoulders.

“This painting of me is the moment I arrived I malta after swimming 100km in 2020 from Sicily to Malta,” commented Agius on Rin Art’s post – after expressing thanks for the support.

Though there has been an outpouring of support from locals seeking to encourage Agius as his day of departure looms ever closer, it is wonderful to see support coming from far and wide.

This is particularly true because if we are to tackle problems as vast as plastic pollution, we’re all going to need to get involved.

“Rest assured, Rin and swimmers in this world will be on the same wavelength as Neil during this 100 miles challenge.”
