Rushing to complete World Cup sticker albums is a treasured pastime amongst several Maltese supporters, but a father and son duo have taken things a bit too far and have been caught on camera pinching stickers from a popular Valletta outlet.

Luke Anastasi, whose father Dominic runs the popular Anastasi Panini outlet in Merchants’ Street, exposed this bizarre robbery on the popular Facebook forum The Salott.

“We just saw a case on our cameras at Anastasi Panini in Valletta of a father and son stealing a couple of sticker packets from our shop,” he wrote. “The worst part of it all was that the father was keeping a look out while his son stole a couple of packets. It’s a disgusting situation when, instead of teaching values to our kids and correcting them when they do wrong, we promote stealing.”

“After the son stole a couple of packets and the father was waiting outside, they both ran away. They didn’t do a good job of keeping hidden because we have cameras around the shop and could see it all happen.”

Strange as it may sound, this is not even the first time that football sticker thieves have targeted the Anastasi Panini store. During a recent interview with V Squared, Dominic Aquilina recounted how thieves had once broken into his shop but only made off with a collection of stickers.

It is unknown at this stage whether the Anastasis have reported this case to the police.
