Naħliflek: Gentileschi’s Fight For Truth And Justice Comes To Life In Valletta

This October, Valletta will play host to a powerful new theatre production that brings the extraordinary story of Baroque painter Artemisia Gentileschi to the stage.
Breach Theatre’s NAĦLIFLEK, directed by Marta Vella, is set to recount the true story of Gentileschi’s assault, betrayal, and ultimate triumph, based on transcripts from her gruelling seven-month trial in 17th-century Rome.
The production stars Kim Dalli, Clare Agius and Sarah-Lee Zammit, with the participation of Claire Tonna and Analise Mifsud. Performed in Maltese for the very first time, NAĦLIFLEK combines history, myth, and contemporary commentary to shed light on the life of the woman who carved her name into the male-dominated world of art, alongside Caravaggio.
