‘The Full Monty’ Stage Adaptation Comes To Malta This October
One of Britain’s most beloved films is coming to the Teatru Manoel stage this autumn, as MADC presents “The Full Monty” for two weekends of live theatre.
The heartwarming and hilarious story follows six unemployed steelworkers with nothing left to lose but their clothes.
Adapted for the stage by Simon Beaufoy, the Academy Award-winning writer behind the original film, this production is as bold, funny, and daring as the iconic movie that became a cultural phenomenon. Audiences in Malta can also take advantage of an early bird ticket deal, offering a 20% discount on all boxes at Teatru Manoel for a limited time.
Set in Sheffield in the late 1990s, “The Full Monty” centres on a group of out-of-work steelworkers who devise a plan to make ends meet. What begins as a light-hearted scheme quickly transforms into a raw and uplifting story of the men and women of a city struggling on the dole.
Known for its combination of laugh-out-loud comedy and poignant moments, the story continues to resonate over twenty-five years after its big-screen debut. While the stage production includes mature themes and nudity and carries a 16+ certificate, at its heart, “The Full Monty” is about friendship, resilience, and the enduring power of laughter.
The production features a talented cast led by Alan Paris, Stephen Oliver, Brendon Thearle, Lewis Preston, Shaun Rizzo, and Taha Chaudhry, alongside Keira Galea, Richard Godden, Alan Azzopardi, Matthew Grech Marguerat, and Sarah Jane Zrinzo. Stage veterans Pia Zammit, Coryse Borg, Steve Casaletto, Angelica Sant, and Antonio Tufigno make special appearances, while Charlie Paris and Simon Tufigno share the role of Nathan.
Behind the scenes, director Francesca Briffa heads a formidable creative team, including set designer Romualdo Moretti, costume designer Nicole Cuschieri, lighting designer Chris Gatt, dialect coach Stephen Oliver, and choreographer Sarah Jane Zrinzo, ensuring the production captures the energy, humour, and nostalgia of the beloved film.
MADC’s production of “The Full Monty” will perform at Teatru Manoel, Valletta from 24th October until 2nd November, with all shows starting at 7.30pm.
