34-Year-Old Man Dies After Swimming Incident In Gozo

A 34-year-old man died after encountering trouble while swimming in Gozo and despite attempts by bystanders to save him.

Police were informed that assistance was needed today around 3pm at Ras ir-Reqqa in the limits of Żebbuġ. Officials went on site and discovered that a 34-year-old man from Għajnsielem had trouble while swimming.

People in his vicinity managed to help him out of the water and provide first aid.A medical team soon took over before he was taken to the Gozo General Hospital by ambulance. Unfortunately, he was certified dead not long after.

Magistrate Dr Bridgitte Sultana LL.D was informed of this case and has since opened a Magisterial Inquiry. Police investigations are currently ongoing.
