‘A Sense Of Shame And Decadence’: Sliema Resident Starts Campaign Against Street Swimwear

Sliema resident David Pace O’ Shea has stuck some 60 signs around his hometown warning people against wearing swimwear on the streets and is encouraging other residents to do likewise.
Pace O’ Shea also wrote a letter to the local council and the police on behalf of a group of 42 residents, urging them to clamp down on such behaviour.
“This practice which is becoming ever more blatant and ‘in your face’ every summer is illegal, immoral, distractive and causing anger,” he wrote.
“It brings a sense of shame, and a decadent behaviour to our ethical norms of dress in society. We kindly ask you to take remedial action in this regard.”
“One can put up signage in residential areas and advice through proper channels like hotels, social media and other tourist/student operators about an expected dress code on our streets. This will also go down well with the quality tourists our country is seeking to attract.”
Should this law be enforced or amended?
