Animal Welfare Directorate’s Rescue Operation: Protecting Dogs in Need

27 dogs, known as bully breeds, were seized by the Animal Welfare Directorate at a residence in poor condition. Directorate officials took action upon receiving reports of dogs allegedly appearing in poor condition. Upon arriving at the scene to verify the report, they found a large number of dogs in very poor condition, some tied with metal chains, lacking hygiene, with injuries, and also mistreated.
Among these dogs, there were two mothers found nursing their small puppies.
Officials from the Animal Welfare Directorate, with the assistance of the police, carried out an operation that lasted several hours, taking custody of these dogs, some of which required treatment due to the precarious condition they were found in.

This is another operation carried out by the Directorate to protect animals. This comes after the recent reform that strengthened both the human and capital resources of the Directorate. Through amendments made to the Animal Welfare Act in 2023, the Animal Welfare Directorate was given more enforcement powers to conduct operations like these.
In similar cases where there is suspicion of animal abuse, the public can report by calling 1717.
