Malta Sets Its Sights On The Future Of European Research And Innovation

Malta’s making moves in the world of research and innovation, adopting its official Position Paper for the upcoming 10th European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP10), set to kick off from 2028 to 2034.

The framework is expected to steer European R&I priorities for the next decade, and Malta’s stance ensures our voice is heard loud and clear.

What’s Malta pushing for? The key points include:

  • Enhanced support for Widening measures
  • A more straightforward application process
  • Increased backing for collaborative projects
  • Fewer, streamlined calls
  • More international partnerships

As the smallest EU member, Malta’s perspective emphasises inclusivity and accessibility, urging the EU to ensure that all member states, big or small, can benefit from the FP10’s impact on sustainability and innovation. Malta’s position reflects the collective input of local researchers and innovators, gathered through a survey and a consultation event led by Xjenza Malta on 11th September 2024.
