A Maltese man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly firing a gun at another man during a fight over a prostitute in Gżira.
Raymond Gatt, a 52-year-old man from Fgura, shot a 44-year-old from Msida in Triq Testaferrata, a street renowned for prostitution, at around 2:10am yesterday morning. ONE News reported that the fight was over a prostitute who is married to the shooting victim.
The victim has since been hospitalised.
The accused’s lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri requested bail on the grounds that he had a fixed address and was ready to abide by any bail conditions. However, the prosecution objected on the grounds that he was charged with a severe crime and that witnesses had yet to testify.
Magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo denied the bail request and the suspect has ben remanded in custody.
