Popular Maltese Sister Band Takes On Sensitive Migration Topic With A Cute Life-Sized Puppet Performance

Powerhouse sister act The New Victorians are releasing a new promenade performance featuring life-sized bird puppets and a unique and touching story about social inclusion and integration.

TINGO is about three birds that have migrated to Malta for the winter and have reunited after another long year apart. They share tales of their aviation adventures but notice a turquoise feathered intruder amongst their midst; who is he and why does he refuse to share his song?

Join the three music-making birds in their attempt to discover the truth about where Tingo The Tuneless Bird really came from, and why there’s no way he can ever go back.

TINGO forms part of the  ŻiguŻajg Festival and touches on contemporary issues of migration, social inclusion and integration and while it may sound heavy and dense, it’s catered for a young audience from five years and above.

The performance will be on display in a number of schools around Malta and Gozo, as well as selected Valletta squares throughout the month of November. The performance is free of charge, which is a steal considering who the masterminds behind the show are.

The life-size puppets look like something out of a Disney movie thanks to the hard work of Matthew Pandolfino and features a steller and professional cast made up of Sean Briffa, Sean Borg, Bettina Cassar, Philippa Cassar and Steffie Weenink.

Under the creative direction of an experienced and tested team, TINGO is bound to hit home with both a young and older audience. With performances on selected dates only, this is one show you don’t want to let fly by!
