Swimming Warning Issued For Xlendi Bay After Contamination From Nearby Valley

The Environmental Health Directorate warns against swimming in Xlendi Bay, Gozo due to runoff water from the valley that made its way to the bay.
“After the rain that hit Gozo on 20th June, run-off water from the Xlendi valley moved from Rabat and a number of other localities from central Gozo and southern Gozo,” wrote the Directorate in a statement. “The water collected soil and deposits from the valley which went on to be deposited in the sea.”
The Environmental Health Directorate, within the Public Health Superintendence, issued the statement yesterday evening on its social media platforms to warn beach-goers of the water quality.
