Article Featured Image

Over the past week, hunters were reported for their illegal targeting of turtle doves. These hunts took place just days before the season opens legally.

From 14th to 20th April, the hunting season was only open for quails. However 80% of hunters were focused on hunting for turtle doves. The peak of hunting activity was between Thursday and Sunday in which several “Protected birds like Nightjars, Common Kestrels and Bee-eaters were also shot,” as Birdlife Malta reported on social media.
