Watch: Government Strengthens Commitment To Animal Welfare Through Support For Horse Rescue

The Government reaffirms its commitment to supporting those who dedicate their time and passion to sustaining the spirit of volunteering.

As the Ministry for Animal Welfare, we recognise in particular the invaluable work of individuals and organisations that give a voice to the voiceless and offer a second chance at life to the most vulnerable.

An inspiring example of this dedication is Alistair, a young man who has devoted his life to rescuing horses, together with the team of volunteers who stand alongside him.

Through their efforts, many horses have been given a new beginning, both in Malta and abroad. Second Chance Horse Rescue continues to provide these animals with the opportunity to heal, rehabilitate, and ultimately find a permanent, loving home.

In recognition of this important work, the Government will be allocating land to Second Chance Horse Rescue, enabling the organisation to establish operations and provide safe accommodation for rescued horses during their rehabilitation period.

This initiative underscores the Government’s confidence in voluntary organisations that embody compassion, responsibility, and hope – values that strengthen our society and inspire us all.
