A group of girls visiting Malta were completely shocked with their hotel room view as they drew the curtains to reveal the rubble left behind from the collapse of Tania Flats in St Julian’s.

“What can I say… home sweet home,” joked TikTok user Girlsssontrip in the now-viral video, which has racked up a million views since being posted two days ago. Comments quickly poured in, with some mocking how “Malta is a Jet2Holiday destination” while others warned travellers to avoid the area altogether.

Another TikTok account had previously posted a video from late June 2025, showing another St Julian’s hotel near the Tania Flats site, calling the place “Afghanistan” and complained about how she was “fully catfished.”

Tania Flats collapsed in the evening of 11th June, several hours after all 32 residents were safely evacuated.

What do you make of the tourists’ reactions to the area?
