Tonight’s final X Factor Malta Six-Chair Challenge ended on a dramatic note, with one particular story turning out to be one rollercoaster of emotions where a beloved duo was brought back minutes after they were eliminated.

Sisters Maria and Christina delivered a great performance when they went up on stage second… but when it came to giving a seat to energetic band Captain Romance & The Danger Dogs, Ira went against the audience’s loud suggestions and came up the sisters’ seat.

Cue loud calls of “Bring them back!” by the audience, and Ira telling everyone that “things may change in the future”, asking people to trust in the judges.

By the end of the show, however, Captain Romance & The Danger Dogs lost their seat to local favourites Lapes & Nadine… and the crowd’s chanting came back.

It was at this point that Ira called the sisters back up on stage, this time with one simple but competition-altering question: would they be up for joining a group?

The duo was Carly Buttigieg and Eksenia Sammut, who have had a long and turbulent journey on X Factor Malta so far with a number of last-minute changes after going from trio to duo in the previous Bootcamp phase. Well, it turned out there was one more change in store for them!

The four girls were all ready to accept the challenge, and just like that, after a dramatic couple of hours, Ira had her six groups – and the crowd definitely seemed happier!

Do you agree with Ira’s call to join the two girl duos?
