Watch: Mamaclay Shares Funny X Factor Moment Involving Richard, A Kebab And A Backscratcher
Ahead of the X Factor Malta final, Filipino star Mamaclay has shared a funny backstage moment she shared with Richard Aquilina, one of the four finalists.
“Not many people know this about Richard but he’s a very funny guy,” she told Lovin Malta. “Unintentionally funny but I know he would agree.”
She recounted how Richard had ordered a kebab dish during one of the show but couldn’t find any cutlery to eat it with.

“I told him to go to my dressing room and find my black lunch bag, and to look for a pocket inside it, where I kept a spoon and fork inside a container,” she said.
“It so happened that I also had a backscratcher inside my lunch bag which I bought because it’s cute. But Richard thought the pocket outside the bag was the pocket I was talking about, so he brought out the backscratcher.”
“When we were going home, he told me that he washed my fork, and that it looked a bit weird but it worked. I told him ‘Ok, thank you for washing my backscratcher’. He said ‘What? I ate with your backscratcher?’. We laughed so hard about it.”
Mamaclay developed such a close bond with Richard over their time on the show that she described the Maltese singer as her “brother”.
“He lives in Gżira and I currently live in Sliema so he drove me home from MFCC after every show. He is a very nice and gentle man, a very talented, funny and family-oriented guy.”
