Hundreds of hopefuls returned to the halls of X Factor Malta last summer to face Howard Keith, Alex Alden, Ira Losco and Ray Mercieca, with tens of thousands of people from all over the island tuning in every Sunday to watch what they’d inevitably end up talking about for the rest of Monday morning. It takes a lot to stand out… but one pink-haired auditionee seemed to achieve that quite effortlessly last night.
There was something about Ludivine O’Toole joyfully hopping into the audition room that must’ve let a whole of people back home know they were in for an entertaining ride, but we’re willing to bet it still managed to catch a bunch of audience members off-guard. After all, the judges themselves were quite shooketh themselves.
Bubbly and a little bit all over the place, Ludivine explained how her song choices kept changing… before going into a rendition of Habanera from the opera Carmen
And in the words of Howard, it only took Ludivine four seconds into her performance to leave a lasting impression that would not go away no matter how many more singers the judges met throughout the rest of the show.
Switching straight into opera mode, Ludivine took absolutely everyone by surprise, and as she burst out laughing halfway through the first verse but carried on, things only got more confusing (and entertaining).
The audition proved as unforgettable to the judges as it did to the rest of the nation, ending up as the most viewed video on X Factor Malta’s YouTube account this week
And people seemed to have really enjoyed it too, with comments saying they hope Ludivine’s unique mix of talent and charisma get her far into the competition. And yes; the memes were already out, comparing her nervous laughing to themselves in any serious situation.
In the end, though, it’s about the voice… and the judges seemed to love what they heard
Amidst a couple of still very confused looks, Alex, Ira and Ray all gave Ludivine a ‘yes’. And before he gave his own fourth one to definitely seal the deal, Howard gave the pink-haired hopeful one final, massive compliment.
“You could’ve done absolutely everything wrong after the first four seconds, because I would’ve given you the same vote” the usually super strict judge smiled. “I always tell everyone; be different, be unique and make sure I remember you. I’ve never met someone like you and I will never forget you.”
Here’s to X Factor Malta’s latest memorable contestant, Ludivine!
