A 50-year-old Israeli diver died earlier today while diving in Ċirkewwa.

The incident occurred at around noon, when police and a medical team were called on-site to assist after he was pulled out of the water by a group of people.

He was given medical assistance, and transported to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment, however, he was certified dead shortly afterwards.

He was later identified as a 50-year-old Israeli man. 

Magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo has opened an inquiry, while police investigations are still ongoing.
