Man Arrested After Allegedly Throwing Paint At LESA Offices For Getting Too Many Fines

A 29-year-old delivery man from Birgu has been arrested after allegedly throwing paint at LESA offices in Fgura.
Matthew Vassallo allegedly threw yellow paint at LESA offices on July 8th because he was getting too many fines.
Vassallo was charged in court this weekend with causing damages of up to €2,500, causing fear that violence could be used against LESA officers, breaching bail conditions from another arrest and wearing a mask in public to avoid identification.
He was previously convicted of a similar crime.
The prosecution explained that a report came from LESA after paint had been thrown at the office. Inspection of CCTV footage led to the accused’s arrest.
His house was searched and the clothes he wore during the alleged incident were found.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The Court rejected a request for release from arrest and mentioned that the crimes are serious and some other people have yet to testify.
Magistrate Abigail Critien presided over the case.
Inspector Gabriel Kitcher led the Prosecution.
The lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri represented Vassallo.
