The Obstetrics Ward 1 at Mater Dei Hospital has turned more festive for this Valentine’s season thanks to the amazing work that the midwives and other staff within the ward have done in their spare time.

To try and make the ward feel more welcoming for mothers staying in the ward, various dazzling decorations have been made in the spare time that each of the midwives has had.

The Obstetrics Ward 1 is a 24-bed female ward that caters for mothers who are going to give birth as well as caring for mothers and their babies following the delivery.

Reaching out to Lovin Malta, senior midwife Samantha Gerada explained that all of the decorations were handmade with all staff contributing to the initiative in one way or another – whether it was buying items or making the decorations in their free time.

In particular, these beautifully knitted flowers and sequinned hearts are certainly some of the more eye-catching sets of decorations.

Of all the amazing work of the staff, Gerada highlighted the efforts of midwives Luciana Brincat Xuereb, Sharon Vella, their charge midwife Doris Spagnol Abela and care worker Jackie Dreamer who did most of the handmade items.

Share and spread some Valentine’s spirit!
