Best Places To Eat Alone In Malta

Or try to, anyway...

Eatingalone

Okay – let's be real here. It's basically impossible to eat out alone in Malta. Wherever you go you're bound to meet at least an acquaintance. There's no such thing as escaping. BUT – it doesn't mean we don't have anything that comes close to that.

Here's a list of places to eat out that are ideal for different levels of solitude.

1. Emma's Kitchen

The newest eatery on the block is perfect for when you want to grab a quick, delicious bite but don't have the time to plan a lunch with a friend.

Level of solitude:

4/10

Only lunch there if you're ready and willing to bump into someone you know. Doesn't mean you'll have to join tables, but there will be plenty of "hi, orrajts".

2. Cafe Jubilee

Thanks to the cosy corners and secluded booths in the Jubilee cafes, it's quite possible to have a relaxing lunch with nothing but you and the book you're currently reading.

Level of solitude:

8/10

Yes, you might meet someone you know, but by and by they'll mostly leave you be.

Sure, you'll probably meet people you know there, but because of the pick-up-and-go system, it feels very much like you can keep yourself to yourself and get on with it.

Level of solitude:

7/10

With chances of having to spend five minutes saying hi to an old family friend.

5. Cucina del Sole

Because this place is quite big, and the views look out majestically onto the sea towards Valletta, it's quite easy to immerse yourself into your own world if you're eating there. If you just fancy the company of your good self, this place is ideal for a weeknight dinner.

Level of solitude:

6/10

There may be a few people you know – families, people on dates, groups of friends. The point is it's a really versatile place so you won't feel like a loner if you choose to take a table for one.
