CONFIRMED: The Price Of Pastizzi Has Risen By 33% Across The Island
Four large pastizzeria brands have confirmed that the price of pastizzi has risen by 33% across the island. The price increase sees pastizzi being sold for 40c each – a 10c increase from the general price of 30c each.
As previously reported, there was speculation that the price of pastizzi would be going up during the summer, but pastizzeria owners that Lovin Malta spoke to confirmed the change occurred from this week.
“The prices went up from Monday, around all of Malta,” said one pastizzeria worker. “The price of flour went up recently, the price of bread went up as well, so the heads of the pastizzeria companies met up and agreed together to raise the price to 40c.”
Some other items, such as pizza, were also affected, with a 10c rise tacked onto their price as well.

The Maxim’s, Sphinx, Jeff’s, and Premier brands confirmed that the price of pastizzi is now 40c across the island.
One pastizzeria worker lamented how the workers were getting the blame for the price rise.
‘People were complaining to us because they thought it was from the side of the individual pastizzerias – but it’s not, it’s the entire country,” he said.
Another worker in a separate pastizzeria was much more positive about it.
“Finally,” he said. “Maybe now we can expand a little bit.”
Some people had complained about the price rise earlier this week
With one man pointing to “collusion” between the pastizzeria owners leading to the price rise.
