Aperitivo is a huge deal in Italy and we can see why it’s taking the world by storm. And with Malta chilling just under the big boot, you best believe aperitivo was going to land on our island in style.
Who doesn’t like to relax after work or in the early evenings with some badass snacks (usually free) to accompany your drink?
Most joints will offer their own type of aperitivo and these are some of the best we’ve found around Malta.
1. Blanco, St Julian’s
Head over to Blanco’s outdoor terrace every Sunday for their We Love Aperitif afternoons.
€10 gets you a cocktail and a selection of delicious finger food from their buffet.
2. Hammett’s Gastro Bar, Sliema
On Sundays from 6pm, one of our fave gastro bars are offering a selection of free bar bites with every cocktail you order.
The more you drink, the more you eat!
3. The Lord Nelson, Mosta
Every Friday, The Lord Nelson will be offering a delectable platter with five culinary treats such as foie gras bruschetta, champagne oyster tempura, steam buns with pulled brisket, Mornay cod fritters, beef tartar and artisan cheeses – all for only €15 per person.
To be enjoyed with luxury wine.
4. Wasp., Ħamrun
Wasp. organise aperitivo nights every Thursday with €2 Italian wines and €5 cheese boards.
So join in the fun!
5. Rusty Spoon, Buġibba
This pub famed for their amazing Sunday roasts also do regular aperitivo evenings. The concept is simple; they serve free appetisers every Wednesday from 6pm till 11pm. Nibbles change weekly.
6. The Lighthouse, San Ġwann
This Italian eatery does daily aperitivo from 6pm-9pm. So chill the hell out with some booze accompanied by tasty homemade snacks (including bruschetta and arancini) for €10.
