Mint No More: Popular Sliema Eatery Invites Foodies For One Last Kiwi Delight Ahead Of Closing
Sliema coffee scoffers: the beloved Kiwi eatery Mint has announced its closing up for good at the end of this month and is inviting foodies over for one (or five) final visits.
“After nearly 14 years, Mint is, unfortunately, closing up shop at the end of this month! A change of ownership, a change of style and a new and amazing brunch establishment can be expected soon,” a statement on their Facebook read.
Mint cited a change of ownership and style as the reasons behind the closure but assured foodie fans that it wasn’t all bad news, with a new concept bruncheria opening in its place.
“But in the meantime, you’ve got two weeks left to get your full of afghans, pies, carrot cake and flat whites! Hope to see you all for one (or five) last visits!”.
Their post was met with a flood of comments of praise and sadness at the news.
“So sorry to hear this. You guys still have the best caramel slice I have ever tasted – better than anywhere in NZ!” an online commentator said.
“Very sad news… my favourite cafe in Sliema for 14 years. Going to miss Mint and the staff very very very much… But wishing you all the very best in your next venture wherever that may be. Your delicious food and friendly service will be greatly missed! Mint was legendary… nothing else quite like it around,” another said.
