1. Gululu – St Julians
Voters named this the number one place in Malta to get local food. With its friendly service, amazing menu, and gorgeous seaside location – it’s not hard to see why. Our tip: try their Għaġin Grieg, it’s to die for.
2. Capistrano – Valletta
This cute little place on Old Bakery Street serves local food everyday, and even has a local mandolin player, Benny, entertaining guests every Wednesday. Talk about a bonus.
3. Tal-Familija – Marsaskala
This southern gem is owned and operated locally by Charles Preca and his family. Service is rated as extremely friendly and people rave about their daily specials which always include A-class seafood dishes.
4. San Andrea – Rabat
This place is perfect for a celebratory or occasion meal. It’s a bit pricier than average, but the ambience and high-l quality of food and service will make it worth it.
5. Ta’ Marija – Mosta
Delicious food, great staff, tasteful and completely local-inspired atmosphere with regular live entertainment. Anything else you need? No, we didn’t think so.
6. Diar Il-Bniet – Dingli
Diar il-Bniet is a family run farm that’s become renowned for its high quality produce. It’s charming, has service with a smile and is devoid of pretension. In fact it’s perfect for a mid-week night out – do it.
