Us Maltese are passionate about quite a few things; our festas, carbohydrates, uprooting trees and the Eurovision to name a few. But nothing fills us with more passion and pride than one of our very own gaining some international traction.

Well, one of our proudest inventions just got a shoutout on a major British platform. Time Out London just did a quick feature on a cool new hipster restaurant called Black Axe Mangal, a food joint that came highly recommended as “one of the best restaurants in the city”.

The short clip from Time Out’s new series Food Chain features BAM’s Liee Tiernan and Rochelle Canteen‘s Ben Coombs and, a big fan of the featured restaurant.

And out of all things they could suggest from a London eatery, they suggested ordering a Cisk!

They actually call it a ‘Sisk’ with a soft ‘C’, but we’ll take what we’re given.

“It’s pretty close to a perfect restaurant,” Coombs says of the restaurant that’s just off the Highbury and Islington roundabout, recommending a very interesting-looking squid ink flatbread and the eatery’s mission-spiced selection.

“You absolutely have to order a Cisk beer,” Coombs smiles as he opens one of the iconic yellow cans. “It’s the best accompaniment to a hot pizza you’ve ever tasted.”

“It’s tiny and it’s brilliant,” Coombs continues about the restaurant. “It’s a mad genius’s twisted invention.” So kind of like Cisk then!

Black Axe Mangal is situated in the North of London, so if you live in the area and are missing a little bit of Malta in your life, you know where to go. In fact, it’s not the first time that they’ve featured the Maltese beer in their social media.

They have a daily-changing menu but you can count on Cisk to remain available whenever you drop by.

Just remember to drink responsibly, pals!
