Yorkshire Couple’s Authentic Fish & Chips Van In Gozo Is So Popular, It’s Already Selling Out

Guys, I know there are some decent fish & chips on the island (I’ve actually already written about them). But there is a new kid on Gozo’s block serving proper, and I mean proper, fish & chips and… it’s a yes from me (you can trust me, I’m a Brit) and a whole lot of other people.

The Chippy Van is the brainchild of Cheryl and Shaun Goulden, who are both from Yorkshire

Cheryl and Shaun make their fish & chips the really traditional way, which they freshly prepare on the daily. The prep includes lots of potato jargon such as rumbling, chipping and twice cooking.

You can expect the freshest ingredients (including carefully-selected potatoes) and the top cuts of cod. Even the batter and tartare sauce is made from scratch.

“We’ve probably tried in excess of 10 different types of potatoes,” the couple told us. “Some of which have been perfect but suppliers have been unable to provide on a regular basis which takes us back to the drawing board week after week.”

“We never reheat, serve or use anything that is not fresh and that’s an absolute guarantee”

The couple’s food is making waves and selling out on a regular basis

“After a rocky start to the week, what an absolute blast we’ve had this weekend,” the couple happily said on Facebook earlier this month. “Very nearly sold out every night, and completely sold out Saturday. All of our hard work is finally paying off and you guys have been amazing!”

They also want to fly the flag for Malta and will soon be serving battered ġbejniet (aka Maltese sheep cheese).

You can find The Chippy Van every Friday to Sunday from 12pm-8pm each week around Victoria, Gozo. Best to stalk them on Facebook so you can know their exact whereabouts.
