Facebook Major Global Outage Leaves Users Offline For Seven Hours

Leading social media outlets Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, and Messenger faced a major global outage last night, leaving users offline for around seven hours.

This outage came after a whistleblower’s revelations, concerning teens, mental health, and misinformation.

“To the huge community of people and businesses around the world who depend on us: we’re sorry,” Facebook wrote in a tweet.

The four popular apps, all owned by Facebook, stopped working at around 5 pm last night and were not available again until midnight.

The outage resulted in Facebook seeing €60 billion erased based on more than six hours of downtime, with €47.3 billion in lost market value.

On Sunday, Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen claimed that the company is well aware of the hate and violence that spreads through the platforms, and that Facebook is trying to hide the evidence.

Haugen recently released thousands of internal documents showcasing these instances and is set to testify against them shortly.
