Another video appears to show that the government responded to the protests by sending a drone to instruct residents to stay quiet, “control their souls’ desire for freedom” and comply with the lockdown.
As seen on Weibo: Shanghai residents go to their balconies to sing & protest lack of supplies. A drone appears: “Please comply w covid restrictions. Control your soul’s desire for freedom. Do not open the window or sing.” https://t.co/0ZTc8fznaV pic.twitter.com/pAnEGOlBIh

Shanghai entered a total lockdown on 5th April in response to a COVID-19 outbreak, as the Chinese government presses ahead with a zero-risk approach to the pandemic.
Residents have struggled to purchase food, with a surge in demand for delivery apps and government-delivered rations.
Shanghai official Gu Honghui said the authorities will start easing lockdown measures, but only in those neighbourhoods where there has been no positive cases for the past two weeks. Residents of these neighbourhoods will not be allowed to travel to those still under severe lockdown.
