Article Featured Image

Autumn is finally here. This beautiful season brings with it a bunch of activities you can enjoy. Don’t get stuck doing the same old stuff you always do. Take this opportunity to explore what Malta has to offer in new and surprising ways.

Here’s a list of stuff you can do now that autumn is finally here.

1. Go on a hike

There’s nothing as relaxing or comforting as going for a long hike.

Nature will give you a nice boost and it’s an amazing way to kick away the cold weather blues. Apart from all that, you’ll get the chance to keep up that summer bod you worked so hard on.

At least you won’t feel as guilty over the turtiera pastizzi you’ll eat afterwards.

If you’re confused or don’t know where to start, you can take a look at this post.

2. Organise a picnic

Picnics are the best. Whether you go on one with your family or friends, you’re guaranteed to have a day full of fun and good feels.

Just pack up some amazing snacks, warm drinks, a pack of cards, a ball and you’re all set.

Honestly, there’s a bunch of cool spots you can hang out at here on the island, we have some designated picnic areas but you can also explore more secular spaces to enjoy your day. Anywhere close by the Victoria Lines is always a good shot.

3. Camp out under the stars

Why not take this opportunity to camp out under the stars?

Pick a lovely weekend and you can even head out for a fun weekend bender at Comino. There won’t be as much people as summer, and there’s nothing as exciting as having a whole island almost all to yourself.

There’s a bunch of spots you could try out, like Delimara, camping sites in the Mellieħa area and a bunch of other random spots, go crazy.

4. Find some cool rocks you can explore

Malta is blessed with climbable rock structures, so why not take full advantage of that? You can always book a trip with a climbing group or go solo.

It’s a fun experience, and if you’re afraid of heights it might help you overcome your crippling fear. Or make it worse, we don’t know.

Whatever you choose, just be safe and have fun.

5. Visit the beach

Beaches are mostly associated with summer, but that’s the beauty of it. Beaches are left alone during these months, since people would generally rather flock a cafeteria or a warmer place.

Pick a nice day and take yourself on a trip to one of your favourite sun-soaked spots on the island. Don’t forget your favourite blanket and a comfortable pair of shoes.

Who knows; if you’re lucky enough you might even enjoy some ice cream!

6. Enjoy a nice cup of coffee in your car

Yes, in your car.

Get a lovely cup of takeaway cappuccino and head over to a nice and peaceful area where you can enjoy the views undisturbed.

If you feel like a nice peaceful spot, the Dingli and Rabat areas are your BFFs, promise.

You can read books, stare at birds, take a nap or just burn the tip of your tongue with the scalding hot coffee you just purchased. Trust us, it’s lovely.

7. Spot a shooting star

Everyone enjoys a quiet night out, so why not take the opportunity to stargaze? There’s a lot of lovely spots you can visit, and if you’re lucky enough you can catch a shooting star or two.

If you’re not sure where you should hang out, don’t worry. We’ve got your back. Check out this list we compiled a couple of months ago for this occasion.

8. Take your dog out for the day

There’s nothing like hanging out with your best friend. Treat him to a fun day of rolling in the mud and running out in an open field.

There’s no way on earth that this trip will turn out to be boring. It will be just you and your best buddy, with no care in the world. It’s time to bond with your most trusted friend ever.

9. Ride a bike

Now that summer is over, you can enjoy cycling without the murderous heat or sticky sweat. There’s less hassle out in the streets too and you can always stop for a nice coffee along the way.

There’s nothing like stretching out those hamstrings. Biking does hella good for you, from improving your overall health to decreasing stress levels, those mean-looking metal contraptions are a godsend.

10. Get some cool snaps

Dust your cameras and get ready for a day of exploring and fun. You’ll be amazed at all the beautiful creatures, plants, sceneries and spots you will stumble upon. If you’re lucky enough you can even get some cool Insta shots for your profile.

This activity will help calm you down, change your perspective and is also said to have a therapeutic affect on both your mind and body. Amazing.

11. Volunteer with your favourite charity

Nothing feels as good as helping others. Now that the weather is more permitting, you can go ahead and volunteer with any chosen charity over the weekend.

This doesn’t necessarily mean spending a whole day there, a couple of hours would be just enough. You’ll feel super good after, promise.

BONUS: Get lost

Get in your car, go pick up your SO and drive around aimlessly.

Follow all the ambiguous road signs you meet along the way and before you know it you will be discovering a new gem. There’s nothing quite as amazing as having your own chill out spot for the coming winter months.
