9 Cool Events Happening In Malta This Weekend

Friday:
The Busker Live at The Thirsty Barber

One of Malta’s most hyped blues rock outfit will be playing live at one of the best places to get a classy cocktail. Get your weekend groove on from day one.
A night of British classics at Ctrl-Alt-UK

If you’re up for a long night of dancing to The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Blur, Kaiser Chiefs, The Libertines and many more British musical heroes, then The Funky Monkey on Manoel Island is the place to be this Friday night.
Saturday:
Self-Defence Seminar for Women

This great initiative is being offered by Enshin Dojo Martial Arts Studio, and even though this weekend’s edition is fully booked, we still wanted to raise awareness about these events. The eight, two-hour sessions will be held every Saturday, and the seminar will include anything from evasive techniques and defensive tactics to knife handling and counter attacks.
If you’re interested in attending, the next course is starting in April and already has a waiting list, so get booking!
Où Est Le Pantie? Vol 3.
Featuring a live (and probably much more electronic) set by alternative sweetheart YEWS and DJ sets by three of the scene’s best party-throwers, this party at what was formerly the Pieta’ Boċċi Club promises to be a long night of dancing.
OTR – In The Beginning
Off The Record parties are always great fun, and seeing as they’re going back to The Warehouse while honouring the 70s classics that started off the house movement that’s still going very strong in Malta and beyond.
Paul Van Dyk back in Malta
It’s been a couple of years since he last graced the island with his iconic EDM, but Paul Van Dyk will be returning to Malta this weekend to rock Gianpula. And judging by the videos that have survived from previous nights, this is looking extremely promising.
Sunday:
Monthly Maintenance Day at the Xemxija Heritage Trail

This is one great initiative we want to see introduced all over Malta.
Xemxija’s Heritage Trail is taken care of by locals on a monthly basis, and the next meet-up for weeding and cleaning of the area is happening this Sunday. February is apparently pancake month, so the organisers are urging everyone who’s attending to come with an appetite!
Lapsi Coastal Walk

A relatively easy three-hour trek is happening this Sunday in aid of children in Kenya, and everyone is welcome to join and bring along their dogs and cameras. This is the perfect opportunity to explore the beauty of the southwest of Malta and Lapsi’s caves and natural windows.
A screening of Swan Lake

To end your weekend on a cultural note, the Bolshoi Ballet’s rendition of Swan Lake will be showing at Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta. Captured live in Moscow two years ago, the first screening of this show will be this Sunday at 4pm.
