A Tableau Of Terror! Maltese Short Film To Be Screened At World-Renowned Horror And Sci-Fi Festival
The Critic, a short film by Bruce Micallef Eynaud, will be screening at one of the UK’s biggest horror and sci-fi film festival – FrightFest.
Referred to as “The Woodstock of Gore” by Guillermo del Toro, several of the world’s biggest horror films, writers and directors have either debuted at the festival or consider it a must-see event. Very few horror film festivals get as much recognition or media attention as does FrightFest.
Micallef Eynaud says that his short is about “a bitter film critic who attends a screening of short films but is troubled by a disturbing presence waiting for him… starring Nicholas Jackman in the title role, it is a darkly funny ghost story and was inspired by my own side job as a film critic.”
The film was originally made for Micallef Eynaud’s own horror film festival ‘VIDEO NASTIES!’, a local challenge for filmmakers to create original horror short films, which will return this Halloween.
While Micallef Eynaud directed the film, Fabrizio Fenech was the DoP and the co-editor. Both even won awards at the Malta Youth Film Festival earlier this year for their work on the short film, which even took home the award for Best Film! The Critic even features Lovin Malta’s own Johnathan Cilia in a debut acting performance.
The film will be playing in the Cineworld, Leicester Square this Friday 25th August at 3:45pm.
