28 projects linked with traditional Maltese feasts will be given a total of €216,000 as part of the governments Artistic Heritage Scheme 2024.

The scheme was launched earlier this year by the Ministry for National Heritage, Arts and Local Government under the administration of the Maltese Arts Council. The first phase of the scheme saw a total of €850,000 given in funds. A total of 28 applications were eligible to be given funds in this second phase which was announced earlier today.

In all, the government has given €1 million to help local feasts this year through this scheme.

This investment is driven by the principles of sustainability and inclusiveness, which form the basis of art,” Culture Minister Owen Bonnici said.

Our artistic heritage is also part of this foundation, and represents an intrinsic part of our cultural identity that must be given the opportunity and resources to flourish,” Minister Bonnici asserted.

This scheme was launched earlier this year by the Ministry for National Heritage, Arts and Local Government under the administration of the Maltese Arts Council. The first phase of the scheme saw a total of €850,000 given in funds.

Bonnici went on to say that the ministry went above and beyond the government’s electoral promises in this regard. He said this is the second investment in artistic heritage this year and it acts as proof of the importance the state attaches to Malta’s cultural landscape and historical heritage.

“We continue to fulfill our commitment to institutions such as the band clubs, the fire rooms and the feast associations so that they can continue to contribute and pave the way for future generations,” he concluded.

A statement released by the ministry assured that investing in the protection and promotion of cultural heritage and its resources is one of the main priorities incorporated in the strategy of the Arts Council.
