If you’ve passed through St. Julian’s in the past few months, you definitely would have noticed the Malta-inspired six-storey piece of street art, that turned a boring apartment wall into a landmark.

The mural’s artist, James Micallef Grimaud, or ”Twitch”, is now showcasing more of his art in the newly opened 2b Gallery, which is set up right underneath the mural.

The original six-storey mural contains ”some of the most colourful migratory birds which visit Malta yearly and are spotted in the valleys of St Julian’s and Pembroke, (creating) a juxtaposition of these birds with the modern development around the area,” the artist had explained.

Situated right under the landmark, 2b sees itself as not just a gallery, but a platform that will allow artists of this generation to ”share their stories to the world”.

”(He) is a trailblazer of street art in Malta. His work reflects a deep connection with the community, with the artist seeking to capture the transformation, gentrification, and cultural evolution of the Mediterranean,” their Instagram page noted.

Incorporated with a naturalistic approach, most of Twitch’s artwork is inspired by Maltese culture.

Twitch took to his socials, momentarily capturing the artwork, as well as, the copious amount of people who showed up.

The exhibition is generating a lot of buzz, and those who attended its opening were by no means disappointed.

”BLOWN AWAY!! What a spot for fantastic art! Be sure to check it out if you can! Well done to all involved and I’m extremely excited to see what you have for us THANK YOU FOR THIS ART SPACE,” an attendee commented.

Here is to hoping that other artists are inspired by Grimaud’s rise to fame, through such beautiful and uplifting art.

Will you be attending the exhibition?
