This Maltese Collector’s 3D Predator Bust Is The Coolest Piece Of Art You’ll See This Weekend

Creating a 3D bust is a long, tedious and very demanding project but the end result can surely be worth it.

Malta has its fair share of artists fascinated with models and the modelling process but one that stands out from the crowd is this incredible 3D printed Predator bust…

Printed and painted by Christian Galea, the bust is a gorgeous piece of art but those words alone don’t do it justice.

“It first has to be printed which takes about 12 days and then removed from the supports – which are a series of pillars that hold the actual parts from moving and damaging the whole process,” Christian told Lovin Malta.

“When this is ready, the joint parts have to be filled and smoothed to look like a whole statue. Then comes the fun part, the paint job.”

The 3D print is impressive enough, taking into attention minute details of the alien beast from its jagged teeth to its dreadlocks and the skulls that form its base…

But the paint job is truly what brings this model to life.

“You have to be creative and think outside the box to grab people’s attention to see the photo twice. A lot of layers, dry brushing, different types of media go into the statue so it gets that real-life look like in the movie.”

We can’t imagine how long it would’ve taken to complete this one bust even for someone as experienced as Galea but it sure is all worth it for this breath-taking end product!
