From musicians to artists, Malta is really good at producing talented individuals. We’re literally bursting with flavour when it comes to creatives, and we really do believe in starting them young.

Virtually starting out but already boasting talents that will seriously bring tears of pleasure to your eyes, here are young Maltese creatives you really need to keep an eye out for.

1. Sean Decelis

This free spirit forms part of the lovely Tiny Island Studio, our forevercrush in the art world. His surreal creations show us unspoken fantasies, unreal creatures and intricately detailed visions of dreams and thoughts.

The outlandish way Decelis presents his feverish fantasies is a proper kaleidoscope of feels.

2. Arlen Bellotti

This young man’s talents leave us literally speechless. He captures the essence of his subjects in ways that highlight humanity’s fragile backbone in a very tasteful way.

At only 20 years old, Arlen is the youngest on our list. However, his capabilities go far beyond his years — a truly natural talent that is already stirring up the art world in its infancy, we cannot imagine what the future holds for this amazing artist… who by the way is still totally a student.

3. Marija Grech

Marija Grech’s photographic talents know no bounds. She’s the only photographer on this list, and it’s clearly for a very good reason. She manages to catch fleeting glimpses of intimate thoughts and emotions from her subjects, making them last a lifetime.

The softness of her work highlights the strengths and graces of her subjects perfectly.

4. Vic Sketches Stuff

This young artist dabbles in illustrations, comics, sketches and paintings. Looking at her work feels like stepping into dreamland.

The work she produces is very playful and solemn at the same time. She held her first official exhibition last May, and we can’t wait to see more from her.

5. Michaela Fleri Soler

The wonderful Michaela is a graphic designer, illustrator and photographer. We honestly cannot pick a favourite piece because all of her work is simply heavenly.

Michaela manages to create a comforting syrupy, balmy concoction of pleasant feels and sweetness. Her work is what love looks like.

6. Shawn Aquilina Case

This tattoo artist by profession is a lettering and typographical blessing to the island. The classic hand made lettering scripts he creates are reminiscent of nostalgic times gone by.

His custom-made shop fronts and doors are bursting with character; someone please get this guy to makeover all of the island’s shop fronts ASAP.

7. Luca Azzopardi

Azzopardi always manages to create a well-balanced and undivided amalgamation of traditional and modern artistic mediums.

His hyper-realistic work ranges from sculptures to paintings and illustrations. This young man is steadily going places, his work is not only hyperreal but also one of the most gorgeous on the island.

8. Isaac Warrington

Another promising young talent who’s works create a hazy fusion between reality and a heavily dystopian landscape.

His visual creations hold a certain sacral feel to them, contextualising a part of humanity which highlights an intimate amount of bleakness and shrouded in primal human nature.

9. Nikolai Callus

This budding artist can work up some serious magic with his glass pen and ink. Clearly a true fan of fantasy, he recreates amazing abstract illustrations ranging from Harry Potter inspired art to the most Tolkien-esque creations ever. This digital artist is a gift to all those who appreciate anything related to the fantasy genre.

10. Dylan Spiteri

This illustrator’s quirky and fun style literally stands somewhere between super cool and stuff from your nightmares. Melted faces, floating heads and swimming garbage are among the few subjects this artist portrays in his dreamlike illustrations.
