X Factor Malta Judges: Who’s In And Who Is Out?
Speculation and rumours about the X Factor judges have been circulating since the announcement that the show is coming to our island this October.
Now, as Malta gets closer to the first episode airing, the whispers get stronger; here’s the rumours and whispers we’ve heard so far.
1. Joseph Calleja is out
One of the originally-speculated judges, Joseph Calleja will (allegedly) not be able to judge this years competition due to commitments across the globe.
2. Emma Muscat is also out
Hot off the heels of her Amici success, Emma is reluctant to return to another reality talent competition (whether it’s X Factor or Eurovision). She’s also busy promoting her new album Moments, so maybe she’ll be back in time to be a celebrity guest performer?
3. Ira Losco is… IN!
Malta’s sweetheart has secured a spot on the judging panel according to sources close to the show. We’re not sure if she can be considered as a ‘rumoured judge’, or more of a ‘what’s a Maltese singing show without Ira Losco’ assumption, but either way we’re ready for a whole lot of our 7th Wonder to return to our screens.
4. Ray Mercieca from The Rifffs is… rumoured?
You may not have heard of him if you’re under the age of 35, but he would make a killer judge, and we hope the whispers are true.
5. What else we know
A lot of the show’s big names are being kept under wraps. So far Ben Camille is the only officially confirmed personality, and come October the reality TV star will be hosting the show.
Running for over 15 episodes, the winner of the show will be awarded a contract with Sony, and represent Malta in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. The next stage of filming for the competition will see those of the 400 applicants who made it past the producers’ audition perform in front of the currently-unknown judges.
