Happy First Of April! Here’s How People All Over Malta Celebrated April Fools This Year
Love it or hate, on the first of April the prankster inside everyone on the island wakes up and we all compete for the most original April Fools prank. We obviously rocked up with the ‘launch’ of our printed newspaper Lovin Tomorrow, but what did everyone else get up to?
From launching a fake ice cream, to pranking colleagues, to pissing off the entire university population; here’s how it all went down.
The guys over at VibeFM stirred up some love triangle drama
By tricking morning show host Abel into finding two members of the Traffic Threesome, Valentina and Frank, together in bed. Obviously, the two of them are both in long-term relationships, so Abel was pretty spooked to find them sharing a bed.
And what’s even better is that he thought he was going to go and play a prank on Frank. Double spooked.
The University of Malta enforced some new parking regulations
Saying only specific registration plates will be allowed to park on campus depending on the day of the week. They even photoshopped some pretty convincing signs into their photos.
Needless to say, the students were PISSED. Until they realised it was a joke.
Malta’s favourite beer teased a product extension
Cisk posted this image on their Facebook page this morning, introducing a Cisk ice-cream.
And it may have been a joke, but we think it sounds pretty damn tasty.
Students were made to think their stipend would be decreasing drastically
By more than 50%, leaving them with just €33 a month. And needless to say, they were less than impressed.
But the jokes on them, because the guys over at FreeHour totally made that up.
A local theatre company teased a Maltese twist on a musical theatre classic
Billy Elliot turns local as Billy Ellul takes the stage in the fourth major musical to come out of FM Theatre Productions.
And we’re ready to watch our local performers bust out a couple of moves.
Somebody got their car stolen
It was NET Television presenter Fabian Demicoli, and he spent over two hours trying to find it. First thinking he forgot where he parked it, and then wondering if something worse might have happened.
But it was all the work of ex-journalist Mario Frendo. Cheeky chap.
Theresa May wants to take the George Cross with her when Brexit happens
At least that’s what MaltaToday reported. And whilst this may be a discussion the island is having anyway, the Maltese population weren’t too happy to just, you know, give it back.
No, Theresa, you May not.
A popular Facebook group accidentally leaked the first four minutes of a local movie that isn’t out yet
The first four minutes of Limestone Cowboy were posted on the Salott page by admin Moira Palmier. Apparently she wasn’t supposed to, and the team behind Limestone Cowboy got crazy angry.
But don’t worry, it was all one big prank. Talk about creative marketing.
