Watch: San Anton Gardens’ Tortoises Left Without Water In Scorching July Sun

Shocking footage which is currently making the rounds on social media depicts the beloved tortoises homed at the President’s San Anton Gardens left completely without water in the scorching July sun.
Although the water was probably removed during maintenance, many have lamented the scene, saying that the tortoises looked panicked. It is unclear how long the tortoises stayed without any water.
“Panic stricken tortoises left without water in San Anton Gardens in this heat!” the man who posted the video said, which has now garnered over 170 shares on Facebook since being uploaded yesterday.
“San Anton – trying to kill the tortoises…. without water?” Arnold Cassola said.
“This situation needs to be treated with immediate urgency,” PN Spokesperson for the Environment Janice Chetcuti said.
Lovin Malta has reached out to President George Vella for a comment on the ordeal, and is currently awaiting a response.
This is not the first time that San Anton Gardens has received criticism for being left in a state of disarray, with author and poet Immanuel Mifsud recently expressing shock and disgust at its dire state after a visit.
President George Vella has also previously appealed to the authorities to restore San Anton Gardens to its former glory. However, it seems the President’s calls fell on deaf ears.
