Watch: Asahi The Loggerhead Turtle Released Back To Sea After Months Of Rehabilitation

Asahi the loggerhead turtle has been released back into the Mediterranean sea from the Gozitan Ramla Bay, following months of rehabilitation.
The massive turtle required rehabilitation after it was recovered from the sea in a bad state due to entanglement with marine debris.
“Asahi was rescued on 23rd September in 2021, found four kilometres north-west of Malta,” government entity Sostenibilità posted on social media today.
“It was rescued by the crew of a big yacht who brought in Asahi who was found badly entangled in marine debris and because of this Asahi was in a bad state.”
“It is time to Save our Blue and be part of the solution and not the pollution to safeguard these amazing species!” it said.
Minister for Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development Miriam Dalli also called for people to be more responsible and make sure we take action to avoid polluting our sea.
Lovin Malta has previously worked with Nature Trust to spread awareness on what one should do when an injured turtle is encountered in Maltese waters.
The guide strongly calls for people to make sure they do not litter, along with offering tips and contact numbers of volunteers that can help with rescues.
