WATCH: Harry The Loggerhead Turtle Makes A Speedy Recovery And Returns To Ġnejna Bay
A rescued turtle was returned to the ocean earlier this week after it was found swimming in entangled nets and debris.
Harry, the loggerhead turtle, was spotted last Friday by a Tigné resident who proceeded to call Nature Trust Malta after he noticed the turtle struggling at sea.
When Nature Trust eventually caught the turtle, they found him entangled in nets and other debris, which put the poor creature at risk of getting hit by passing boats.
Harry was then taken to a vet where he was slowly freed from the net and other entanglements and monitored for any other injuries that may have been caused by his traumatic experience.
It seems like everything went well for Harry as he was released back into the ocean during a private event held by NTM on Ġnejna Bay.
NTM also inserted a microchip in Harry so that they keep a record of him and track him wherever he goes.
Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Tigné resident and NTM, Harry has been given another chance at life. Well done!
