Watch: Young Turtle Tangled In Nylon Rescued By Maltese Boaters
A young turtle which found itself in difficulty after getting tangled in nylon was rescued by local boaters over the weekend.
Uploading a video on social media, the boaters who encountered the turtle can be seen untangling it from a nylon bag which had unravelled and formed a trap.
“Spotted a heartbreaking sight at sea which called for a quick assist. Sad to see so much debris today apart from the nylon trap our friend found himself in,” the boaters wrote on social media.
Although the act is commendable, it’s important to remember that when encountering wildlife, one should not attempt to untangle the affected creature themselves.
Instead, the public is encouraged to call the Wildlife Rescue Team which is managed by Nature Trust, so that experienced people can assist in the detangling. The team can be reached by calling 9999 9505.
