With over 1,500 votes cast in a Lovin Malta poll, The Busker has emerged as the favourite by our readers to win the Malta Eurovision Song Contest tonight.

The Busker’s Dance (Our Own Party) received 34% of the votes, with Brooke’s Checkmate (23%) coming in second and Maxine Pace’s Alone (19%) coming in third.

Ryan Hili’s In The Silence was some way off in fourth with 9% of the vote, while Matt Blxck’s Up came in fifth with 5%.

The poll is still open and you can vote for your favourite song below.

It must be said that other polls have given different results. A poll by the international Eurovision site wiwibloggs.com placed Brooke as the favourite, with 38.4% of the vote, ahead of The Busker (22.6%) and Maxine Pace (10.6%).

Also, the public vote will only contribute to half of tonight’s results, with a PBS jury deciding the other half.

Still, the Lovin Malta poll will come as a shot in the arm for The Busker, a band composed of singer Dav Jr, saxophonist Sean Meachen and drummer Jean Paul Borg.

Although the band has made a name for itself in the Maltese music scene in recent years, this is its first ever Eurovision entry.
